Overview Of The Project
Client Name:
CAMY, Nigeria.
Tools Used:
Figma.
My Role:
UI/UX Designer, UX Researcher.
Project Duration:
2Weeks.
Problem
Statement:
Many young professionals and students struggle to save money consistently due to a lack of user-friendly tools that cater to their financial needs. Existing solutions are often complex, uninspiring or fail to motivate users to achieve their savings goals. This creates a gap in the market for intuitive, engaging and motivational savings app that simplifies the process, helps users set and track financial goals and encourage consistent savings habit.
Solution:
The Savings App was designed to provide users with a seamless way to save money, track financial goals and build better financial habits. The primary goal was to create an intuitive, engaging and visually appealing app that simplifies the savings process for users while encouraging consistent usage.
Process Of The Project
Research and Discovery
I conducted interviews and surveys with potential users to understand their financial habits and challenges with saving money. I discovered that users wanted a simple way to set financial goals. They found existing savings apps too complicated or uninspiring. I also found out that Users valued motivational elements like progress tracking and elements.
Ideation and Wireframing
I brainstormed and sketched ideas for key app features, such as: “Goal-Setting Functionality” for specific savings targets. A “Dashboard” to show savings progress at a glance. “Automated Savings Options” to encourage consistency. “Rewards or Gamification” to keep users engaged. I then designed a low fidelity wireframe to define the app's layout and user flow.
Visual Design
I developed a clean, modern design using calming colour palette to evoke trust and financial growth. I selected a friendly’ readable font to enhance usability. I created icons and illustrations to make the app visually engaging. Lastly, I added micro-interaction (e.g. animations) for a smoother user experience.
Prototyping
I built an interactive prototype using Figma, to simulate user interactions, such as setting goals, transferring funds and tracking savings progress. I also conducted usability testing with target users to gather feedback and refine the design.
Development
As the UI/UX Designer, my primary responsibility was delivering a polished design that aligned with the app’s goals and ensured a smooth handoff to the development team. I provided developers with detailed design specifications, including a style guide, typography hierarchy, color palette and assets. I shared interactive prototypes to clarify user interactions and transitions. I also conducted regular design reviews during the development phase to ensure the app stayed true to the design vision.
Testing and Launching
I participated in user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate the implementation of the design. I collaborated with the client and testers to identify and address any design-related issues or inconsistencies. I also assisted in creating visual assets for marketing, such as screenshots and app store previews. I reviewed the final product to ensure alignment with the original design and providing feedback for post-launch improvements.
Outcome/Result
I delivered a functional and visually appealing design that met user needs and client goals. The User feedback during testing showed an 85% satisfaction rate with the app’s usability and design. The app’s goal-setting and progress-tracking features were praised for their simplicity and motivational impact. The client was highly satisfied with the design handoff, which included well-documented style guides and assets for developers.
Lessons Learned
*Conducting early user testing helps identify usability issues before moving to development.
*Designing with scalability in mind ensures the app can accommodate future updates and features.
*Collaboration with developers ensures smooth implementation and consistency with the design vision.
