Creating A Responsive and Impactful Online Platform To Support Community Development and Social Change.
Overview Of The Project
Client Name:
The Happiest People of Harrisburg, U.S.A
Tools Used:
Figma and Webflow.
My Role:
Web (UI) Designer, UX Designer, Web developer.
Problem
Statement:
Many NGOs often lack a professional and user-friendly online presence, making it difficult to gain visibility, build trust and encourage donations or volunteer participation. This NGO in particular, is struggling with:
1. Limited accessibility and engagement from their target audience due to a non-existed website.
2. A lack of clear and visibility appealing communication of their objectives and achievements.
3. Inefficient online donation and volunteer registration systems, which reduce conversion rates and overall support.
There is a need for a modern for modern, responsive, and well-designed website that enhances their digital presence, foster trust among supporters, and provides seamless functionalities for donations, updates and event participation.
Solution:
I designed and developed a modern, user-friendly and responsive website - accessible across all devices; to enhance the NGO’s digital presence. It includes clear messaging, a secure donation platform, volunteer sign-up forms, a blog for updates and SEO strategies to improve visibility and drive support.
Process Of The Project
To begin the project, I conducted interviews and meetings with the NGO team to understand their mission, goals and audience needs. I researched successful NGO websites to identify trends and features that align with the client’s objectives. I also defined the core features and functionality required; including a donation platform, volunteer signup forms and an events page.
Based on my research findings, I brainstormed ideas for the website structure and layout. I developed wireframes to outline the content hierarchy and user flow, ensuring clarity and ease of navigation. I also reviewed and refined wireframes based on client feedback.
I created high-fidelity mockups that reflect the NGO’s branding, incorporated their colors, logo and imagery. I designed an intuitive and engaging user interface (UI) to attract and retain visitors. I ensured the design emphasized key elements like the donation button and success stories to drive engagement.
Using Figma, I built an interactive prototype using design tools to simulate the website’s functionality and user flow. I presented the prototype to the client for feedback, allowing adjustments before the developments began.
I translated the approved design into a functional website using a content management system; that is; WEBFLOW. I integrated features like a secure donation system, blog section, volunteer sign-up forms and responsive design for mobile and desktop. I also ensured SEO best practices were implemented to improve the website’s visibility.
I conducted thorough testing to ensure functionality, performance and responsiveness across all devices and browsers. I addressed bugs or errors identified during testing. I launched the website after the client’s approval and ensured all systems were fully operational.
I delivered a professional, responsive website that effectively communicates the NGO’s mission and impact. This improved the online engagement through a streamlined donation process and user-friendly interface. It also enhanced visibility and credibility, enabling the NGO to reach a broader audience and increase support.
